Our cattlemen have farming in their blood and take great pride in observing the time–honored traditions of rearing their animals in the most natural environment possible. They love their cattle like other people love their dog. The Loughrey family has been a member of the Foyle Valley Producer Club for several decades, but their farming heritage dates back nine generations. Today, three generations still work on the farm and rear cattle with the same precision and dedication of their ancestors.
Ivan Loughrey explains, “We’re proud of our reputation for producing world class beef cattle. We can’t help but feel connected to the land and to the animals. Our cattle are still raised by the traditional natural methods, but they are also bred to the requirements of the most sophisticated export markets throughout the world.”
The welfare of the animal is at the forefront of our cattlemen’s thinking. And this welfare extends from the farm to the lairage. We work to ensure our cattle are not stressed in the lairage. We don’t use goads. We keep bulls separate. These are some of the many reasons why Cattleman’s beef has been awarded the ‘Pure Life Welfare Assured’ seal of approval.
The secret behind our Cattleman’s beef isn’t really a secret at all – but a focus on the welfare and wellbeing of every animal and a unique convergence of geography, climate and traditional farming methods that can only be found in Ireland’s North Coast.
